When attempting to make sense of an increasingly complex and confusing world, words are my tool of choice. I find great joy in stringing together a series of syllables to effectively portray the emotion of a moment and transport a reader into a new adventure. BLOG POSTS
untrammeled thoughts, 2015-present
Starting in 2015, I began maintaining a personal blog with tales from my travels and adventures. I publish new posts bi-monthly, often including pictures or video in addition to text.
Grounded grub, 2020
Founded with the mission to promote sustainable eating practices with environmental, socio-economic, and cultural considerations, Grounded Grub is a collaborative space full of recipes, reflections, and investigative pieces dissecting facets of our complex food system. As a contributor, I chose topics of interest and pitch story ideas to the editors.
THE TREK, 2019
As an author with The Trek, I write original content relating to outdoor stewardship and long-distance hiking for their online platform. Using SEO techniques and publishing through Wordpress, I documented my 2019 Pacific Crest Trail section-hike experience with a series of blog posts.
NILGIRIS field learning center, 2016-2017
While working as a researcher at the Nilgiris Field Learning Center in Kotagiri, India, I contributed to the Center’s blog with content detailing my experience as an American researcher working with indigenous farmers in Southern India.
GRANTS
New york state Seed to supper, 2017-2018
Modeled after Oregon State Food Bank’s successful Seed to Supper community gardening educator series, Cornell Cooperative Education in partnership with Cornell Garden-based Learning, launched New York State’s own Seed to Supper program. I authored successful grants that secured funding for our pilot year in Upstate New York.
Mayor potencial, 2015-2017
Founded by a Cornell alumni who was determined to extend the privilege of her education back to her hometown in rural Honduras, Mayor Potencial is dedicated to supporting sustainable livelihoods and connecting community members with Cornell researchers. I was the lead author of successful grants totaling over $3000 to fund a 10-person research team investigating the impact of drought-conditions on local agriculture.
OTHER WORK
us forest service, 2018
As a Wilderness Fellow with the US Forest Service and Society for Wilderness Stewardship, I authored five Wilderness Character Narratives. These 60+ page reports are used by land managers to inform the future of wilderness management.
